100 Words - Moral
Wow, another Velvet Verbosity prompt I’m actually on time for? Is the world coming to an end? Well, given the fact Frank has gone all philosophical on me and is acting halfway human, it just might very well be…
Moral
Treasure stopped the kiss and stepped back. Frank looked at her, trying to catch his breath.
She chuckled, looking away. “And the moral of the story is…”
For one painful heartbeat, he thought she might say ‘you shouldn’t do something without thinking’. Or perhaps about how regrets are part of life. What other lesson could she possibly learn from a kiss from the likes of Frank Talbert?
She lightly touched her bottom lip and looked at him.
“The moral is,” he said, “we may not live for a reason, but we do live.”
He stepped forward and kissed her again.
I’m going to be a bit different this week (and give you yet another sign that the either the world is ending or hell is freezing over) and say that, while I do think I could have done ‘moral’ a bit more justice, I like this bit. I do feel like I’m just writing in ‘moral’ instead of writing to ‘moral’, but I just couldn’t leave these two alone while they were in such an important moment.
Besides, this could be the last 100 words I get the chance to do before I leave for Conflux, and you didn’t want to wait that long to see what happened next, did you? Well?
