Dear Anonymous
This is only loosely related to writing, but I’m going with it because I think this is cool.
I found this site called Dear Anonymous, which basically takes your letters of gratitude, strangeness, love, rants, etc and posts them up. They post them up for the world so your issues (or love, or thanks) are off your shoulders and out into the world.
I’m absolutely addicted to these kinds of things - anonymous thanks is usually my thing - so I thought I’d post about this in case my readers share my addiction.
This is something from the “Post Master” who runs the site:
The post office here at Dear Anonymous is all about you getting out your rants, raves, loves, confessions, thank-yous, and all other kinds of stuff in letter form. It’s all anonymous (and if you send me something with specific names, I will change them before posting) and safe.
Your letters can be to your ex, your friend, your mom, or the jerk at the 7-11 who took the last of the slushie goodness so you had to wait fifteen minutes for them to make a new batch. Write to whomever you want about whatever you want.
As Post Master, I reserve the right to not post up letters that are hate letters at specific groups. Go stand on a soap box and get your rocks off that way. This is not the place for you to put up a letter to your ex detailing just how you are going to kill them. No. However, you can wish him or her a box of rotten cookies and a bad day.
I think you get the point. Rant, but don’t hate for the sake of hating.
Email me your letters for posting at dearanonymousletters at yahoo dot com . Use your personal email or one you make up specifically to send me the letter, I don’t care. Either way, you’re anonymous and safe.
The Post Master tells no secrets.
