Exercise #4 - People and Places
This exercise comes with two options. If you did the previous exercise, just put your character(s) in the setting you created. Let them play and see what happens.
Part two? This one gets a bit more complicated, but it can be a lot of fun. What you do is rip up a bunch of pieces of paper, leaving big enough ones for you to write on.
Now, do you know the big six? Yes, of course. Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How? Make a jar, bowl, or something else for each of these. The next step is to try to make at least a dozen for each container. Then, when you feel you need some inspiration, just take one out of each jar, and try to run with it.
The object is not to stick to what you draw out of the jars but to try to incorporate it until you’ve forgotten about jars and slips of paper, and you are off and running with an idea.
Just a little inspiration is all it takes. ![]()
