Hello and welcome to another author interview. This week I had the pleasure of speaking to motivational speaker Judi Moreo. She has written the book You Are More Than Enough: Every Woman’s Guide to Purpose, Passion, and Power.

Please join me in welcoming her to Fiction Scribe.

Hello and welcome to Fiction Scribe.

Thank you for the interview!

You’re a motivational speaker by trade. Why write a book?

I speak to a lot of audiences, but I will reach a lot more people if I have a book on the market and people enjoy reading it. They will recommend it to people I might never have in my audience. This is information I want every woman to have.

You’re currently touring around blog land for your book “You are Enough: Every Woman’s Guide to Purpose, Passion, and Power?. Tell us a bit about the book.

You have to be ready to read this book. This is not a “feel good? book. This is a “be good? book. I will even go so far as to say it’s a “be excellent? book. My readers tell me they go through a whole range of emotions when they read the book. So you may cry, laugh, or even get angry. But to get the most out of this book, you need to be open, willing, and prepared to think about what you read and put into practice the techniques and skills I have shared.

Many self-help books give you “what if? generalized scenarios and airy, fairy solutions that are meaningless. This book is not about sitting around in a circle holding hands and singing campfire songs. It is about the mechanics of living in the real world; it’s the nuts and bolts of life.

At the end of each chapter I have given the reader a skill practice and an affirmation. If the reader is serious about changing her life for the better, she will do the exercise right away and read the affirmation aloud twice a day every day for a minimum of twenty-one days.

Does the book come from personal experience, patterns you see in women around you, or a combination of both?

It is a combination of both. I give examples from my own life as well as of real people I know or have known and how they solved problems or dealt with challenges. Stories help us to see that other people have gone through some of the same experiences we have. Experience is a wise teacher…whether it is our own or someone else’s.

What kind of reactions did you get when you decided to write a book for women?

Most of the women I know said, “It’s about time.? Many men I know said, “Why is it for women only? I am reading it and it is helping me as well.? One man even said, “If I had read this book 25 years ago, I would have been more successful.?

I find all of the authors I interview have a lot in their lives that seems to make writing a near impossibility sometimes. How did you get the time to create this book?

I didn’t get the time. I made the time. I wrote in airplanes, airports, hotels, and at home. I wrote early morning, late at night and the last month before my deadline, I took the whole month off from other work and wrote 24/7.

Do you think you will write more books in the future?

Yes, definitely. I have just finished the companion to this book…an “Achievement Journal.? At present, I am working on a children’s book.

What are your goals for the book?

My goal is to get this book in the hands of 100,000 women in the next year. So at present, I am promoting, promoting, promoting.

Do you have any advice for the women out there who dream of becoming published authors?

Yes, I do. If you desire to be a published author, write, write, write and then submit your book to publishers, and attend writer’s conferences to meet as many agents and publishers as you can. If that doesn’t work, then self publish.
