NaNoWriMo Break
Hello and welcome to another NaNo break! Today is the beginning (if you start your week with Sunday and not Monday) of the last week of NaNoWriMo. This is a space for you to talk about your word count, talk about if you’re considering quitting or have already done so, and talk about all the weight you’ve gained by eating junk food while writing.
So, how is it going?
I’m still behind. Of course. I thought the third year would be the charm for me, but it’s obviously not. I’m planning on getting a lot of writing after I finish an outline for the story I’m working on, but I don’t plan on passing the fifty-thousand mark before this Friday. Maybe half that.
I feel bad somewhat because, as the Fiction Scribe, I feel like I should complete NaNoWriMo. Then again, I feel I’m doing more as a true writer by taking my time with what I’m working on because I like it a lot and I don’t want to end up throwing half of it away because I wrote in a rush just to meet the NaNoWriMo deadline.
This is my first romance – I’ve always wanted to write a romance – and I want to take my time with it.
I could start something weird and pointless to make the deadline…but I won’t. Mr. Scribe would probably kick my butt if I started another project.
Good luck and good speed, everyone!
If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration for NaNoWriMo or NaBloPoMo, go to Write Anyway where there is a prompt for each going up every day this month.

I have 44,669 words and expect to finish before the 30th.

Nicely done. Feel free to talk about what you’ve written.

Oh, I’ve written crap.
The book is about a murder but after 44,000 plus words I have no murder scene, motive, or suspects. What the heck did I write about? Hmmmmm…not quite sure but somehow I’m making my work count.

Whatever works for you.

The pieces are finally coming together. Although I already reached 50k, I’m still writing and am concentrating on the murder scene, etc. I still have a few more days till the end of Nov.
What I liked best of the NaNo experience is that I was able to write around the scenes I had trouble with. Then when inspiration hit, I revisited those parts.
If I run into a snag in my other writings, I become paralyzed and don’t write until I can get passed it. Of course, this mind set leads to days without writing and a never ending project on my hands.

That reminds me of this week’s pet peeve, funnily enough.

Originally, I wasn’t going to go back and just put the book down after I reached 50K. Then I thought about the characters and felt that it was important to get over my hump and just write the missing scenes.
You are right, my comment is reminiscent of your pet peeve post.

Characters can do that to you. I feel the same for my current characters.
