Publishing Opportunities
Due to popular demand, I’ve found some publishing opportunities.
Good luck with your submissions.
This is a Chicken Soup for the Soul type publication filled with inspirational stories. It is currently accepting stories for a couple different categories. This is a paying job with a possibility at a larger amount of money available to all authors per book.
“Our mission is to publish the finest in speculative and imaginative fiction and poetry, with special attention to character-driven stories that examine the depths and heights of emotion and motivation from a broad variety of cultural and social perspectives. We want to publish powerful stories with emotion that resonates in our minds and hearts long after the first reading and makes us want to read them again and again. We look for the unique: stories that stand out from the norm even in a genre that pushes the envelope of normal. We take special delight in detailed world-building, and we enjoy reading about the realms and inhabitants of your imagination.
This is a paying publication which accepts stories as well as poetry.
This is a paying publication especially good for people with ‘insider’ knowledge about Alaska.
“We get far too many queries about the obvious (a vacation in Alaska, the Iditarod, homesteading, bears) and far too few about more unusual topics. Our favorite story subjects are natural and human history, travel, adventure and profiles, and pieces covering those issues that are unique to Alaska.
American Girl magazine is looking for article and story submissions geared towards girls age 8 and up. They also accept how-to articles, quick tip articles, puzzles, mazes, word games, etc.
“Road and Travel magazine is a consumer magazine, an online resource specializing in automotive, travel, and personal safety topics. RTM targets upscale consumers, with a slant towards women, 29-59.
This is a paying job; payment is worked out between the writer and the editor.
Analog is highly oriented towards science fiction and accepts works of different lengths. “Basically, we publish science fiction stories. That is, stories in which some aspect of future science or technology is so integral to the plot that, if that aspect were removed, the story would collapse. Try to picture Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein without the science and you’ll see what I mean. No story!â€?
This is a paying publication.
If you have had any angelic encounters, then you will be interested in submitting to this magazine. They have a few different categories and lengths for submissions. This is a paying publication.
“The Artist’s Magazine’s voice is conversational, engaging and informative. Feature articles should emphasize the creative process: how the artist works with a medium, solves problems and conducts business. Our readers are artists, so techniques and methods must be specifically explained and/or demonstrated. The goal, of course, is not that readers will be able to copy the work in the magazine, but that they might learn something from other artists’ techniques and strategies that they can use to improve their own work. A familiarity with the magazine is a must.
This is a paying publication.
“ascent is a quarterly journal of yoga and engaged spirituality. We seek writers who have fresh, diverse perspectives on these topics, and a real story to tell. With an emphasis on personal narrative, ascent’s articles translate the philosophy of yoga and other spiritual traditions into practical realities. Each issue centers around a specific theme (see the editorial schedule at the end of this document), exploring the intersection of spiritual values with social and political issues, art, culture and contemporary thought related to the theme.â€?

Please don’t hype the Iditarod is your writing. The race is terribly cruel to dogs. For the facts, visit the Sled Dog Action Coalition website, http://www.helpsleddogs.org.
