Say Something on Saturday: Fanfiction?

As I was making up a list of questions I’d like to ask for the Saturday polls, I started thinking about fanfiction. Fanfic gets a very bad rap generally, though it does have its enthusiastic fans. I personally got my start in novel writing by writing a couple fanfic novels based on the series I love reading at the time: Animorphs by K.A. Applegate.

That’s why I’m asking the question today. There will be no mudslinging or anything like that, so I invite you to talk about fanfic in general or even your own fanfics in the comments.
