Too Much Inspiration? Part Two - Excuse or Actuality?
I’m going to finish off this Friday with the conclusion to yesterday’s post on too much inspiration.
What I mean by too much inspiration is most accurately defined by a comment made by Jennifer at Parenting Toddlers. She said:
“I think in some subconscious way when I have experiences like that I almost feel as if I’ll tarnish the memory itself by writing about it. Not sure why, it just seems too perfect. Maybe I’m also afraid I just won’t capture it properly with the written word.”
However, I’m still left wondering: Is the feeling of too much inspiration yet another excuse not to write? Or is it like writer’s block, something that may never be agreed upon as to its existence?
I want these posts to address something I’ve never seen addressed before so writer’s know there is usually at least one other writer who feels or has felt what they are going through.
As far as the subject of too much inspiration, I am going to let the memories truly sink in, and I can draw upon them later as needed. If you have the same experience and feel uneasy about doing the same, I recommend making a scrapbook of your adventures. A scrapbook can not only store your photos, but also mementos and notes.
