Velvet Verbosity’s 100 Words

by JM

100-word-challenge.jpgAh, it feels so good to be back writing here again. And doing my beloved 100 words again! I suppose I could have done the one I missed on my personal site, but…

Yeah, that’s probably not a place you want to explore. My mind is quite scary.

Anyway, posting on Saturday isn’t exactly new to me and I wanted to get in my 100 words before the next prompt goes up. So here it is!

The lovely Velvet Verbosity gave us the word hour to work with. This is what I came up with…

*

An hour. One whole hour.

What possessed me? How could I have so, so easily signed over my mind – my soul! – to another being. I was and am naïve to think that such a thing could possibly be good. Could possibly give me some sort of shred of decency or goodness to make this torture worthwhile.

“Mr. Talbert.

Have I gone mad?

“Mr. Talbert?

I look up. Could it be? Has an hour passed so soon?

The receptionist smiles. “The doctor is ready.

Mr. Alberts walks out right on time. “Welcome, Mr. Talbert. I see you got here early today.

*

This is another strange one and I’m not very proud of it. I think it could be a lot better, but I’m honestly not fussed with the idea of tinkering with it any more than I have at the moment. That’s probably a sad thing for a writer to say, but I have been writing my arse off lately, so I’ll just excuse myself.

As always, if you participate in this prompt, leave a link here as well as at Velvet’s site so we can all take a peek at what you’ve written.

Have a great weekend!

I don’t know, JM. I think there’s plenty to be proud of here; it’s definitely a start and you’ve got an intriguingly neurotic character. I think you should have some fun with this guy!

Here is my latest VV. Like you, I liked my previous one better (the link to the previous one is in the current one. I’m trying to be nice like that!)

  2. JM Says:

Yes, he is an interesting one, that’s for sure. :) Maybe I’ll dust him off and give him a bit more room to play.

Thank you for the linky! :)

I like this one! Mine is up on my writing site.

  4. the Wandering Author Says:

Good to see you back! I thought that was intriguing; I admit 100 words didn’t allow much room to develop it, but that’s not your fault. :) Still, I’d love to see how that one works out.

My own effort is here. Not my best, either.

  5. JM Says:

Hi Rene. :) I’m glad you like it.

WA - Very true, but that’s part of the art, isn’t it? Getting so much into so few words?

  6. Secret Agent Mama Says:

    Quite intriguing!
