Weekly Writing Challenge
Hello once again!
How did last week’s challenge work out for you? Putting in my 200 words a day over the last week, I finally got over 6,000 words in on my current novel in progress. I’m rather proud of myself, even though I’ll probably get rid of half of it in heavy editing.
I’m only too well aware that in two weeks we’ll have already started NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo, both of which I am signed up for. That’s why I am upping the weekly challenge in an effort to get you warmed up for NaNoWriMo.
Your challenge is to write not 200 but 300 words a day for the next week. Before you pout, remember in November the daily word count will be 1,667 a day for thirty days in a row. This challenge will be exactly as I intend it to be – a warm up.
Keep in mind this will be the last challenge for a while, as the writing challenges will be suspended while NaNo is running. I think that is a big enough challenge in itself. For those of you not participating, considering maintaining self-motivation as your challenge, for it is a true challenge for any writer.
So, 300 words a day for the next week. You can do it. Remember, it’s a lot easier to work when you have something to work with. Getting the first rough draft done is a hugely hard thing to do, so why not push through it and get the hard work over with?
